This specimen was lot 24509 in Heritage sale 3032 (Chicago, April 2014), where it sold for $4,112.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Charles III gold 2 Escudos 1764, Nuevo Reino mint, MS63 NGC. Choice Uncirculated and handsomely toned, a most attractive specimen of this scarce rat-nose type and finest certified by NGC." The "rat-nose" bust of Charles III was used at Nuevo Reino (Bogotá) 1762-71 but never at Popayán which continued with the bust of Ferdinand VI until 1771.

Specification: 6.77 g, .917 fine gold, .199 troy oz AGW.
