This specimen was lot 40133 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $900. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1761-J 2 Escudos. Popayán mint. Carlos III (1759-1788). AU-55 (PCGS). Light yellow gold with some remaining luster in protected areas. Choice and problem free. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins. Ex. This specimen is one of a series struck 1760-71 at the Popayán mint, which never adopted the "rat nose" bust used at Bogotá after 1762. While the two escudos is a rare denomination for Mexico, it is common for the Colombian mints.
