The first specimen was lot 1471 in the Eliasberg sale, where it sold for $1,380. The catalog description[1] noted, "1761 J 2 escudo. Bogotá mint. AU-50 (NGC). Types as above. Medium gold with deeper highlights toward the rims. Lightly cleaned long ago and a trifle bright, but sharply struck and attractive. Purchased from Watkins Coin Company, July 1943." This type was struck at Bogotá 1760-62 and at Popayán 1760-71.

Specification: 6.77 g, .917 fine gold, .199 troy oz AGW; this specimen: 6.71 grams, 22.90 mm diameter.
