This specimen was lot 40117 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 2 Escudos, 1757-J. Bogota Mint. Ferdinand VI (1746-59). PCGS Genuine--Mount Removed, AU Details Gold Shield. An ex-jewelry piece, with the usual bright, pebbly surfaces. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins. Ex: Coin Galleries, June 1979." This specimen is one of a series struck 1756-60 at the Nuevo Reino (Bogotá) mint. Multiple assayers exist for this date. While the two escudos is a rare denomination for Mexico, it is common for the Colombian mints.
