This specimen was lot 11008 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $2,040. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1686-(G?) 2 Escudos. Santa Fe de Nuevo Reino (Bogotá) mint. Charles II (1665-1700). AU-50 (PCGS). Nice yellow gold with deeper contrasting color in recesses. No assayer is visible on the planchet, but the full four-digit date is plain and easily legible. The shield is double struck and lacks crisp detail, while the cross is fairly strong. Acquired from Stack's, December 1969." This type was struck 1667-93, with assayer G reported for 1678-92. All dates are rare.
