Sincona sale 47, lot 2785
This specimen was lot 2785 in Sincona sale 47 (Zurich, May 2018), where it sold for 280 CHF (about US$336 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SWITZERLAND, Grisons, Chur, Bistum, Johann V. Flugi von Aspermont, 1601-1627. Taler o. J. Chur. Variante: Sitzender Heiliger von vorne, Mitra ohne Nimbus. Schön-sehr schön. (bishopric of Chur, John of Aspermont, 1601-27, undated thaler, Chur mint. Variety with sitting saint, miter without nimbus. Fine-very fine.)"
Chur, among with the rest of Switzerland, left the Empire in 1648 as part of the Treaty of Westphalia which ended the Thirty Years War. This undated type is attributed to 1620.
