Sincona sale 43, lot 3177
This specimen was lot 3177 in Sincona sale 43 (Zurich, October 2017), where it sold for 1,200 CHF (about US$1,432 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"CHINA, Volksrepublik, 500 Yuan 2002. Panda. Polierte Platte. FDC. Leicht berührt. (People's Republic of China, 500 yuan of 1993, panda series, Choice Proof, Some hairlines.)"
The Chinese government has, since the mid 1980's, produced a mind boggling array of bullion related collectibles. A complete set is thousands of types yet buyers clamor for more. The one ounce panda was raised from 100 yuan to 500 yuan in 2000.

Recorded mintage: 28,345 proofs.
