This specimen was lot 1680 in Goldberg sale 106 (Los Angeles, September 2018), where it sold for $1,020. The catalog description[1] noted, "China. 50 Yuan, 1990. Panda. NGC graded Proof 69 Ultra Cameo." This NCLT was the eighth half ounce panda, the series having begun in 1983. Subsequent programs added silver and platinum pandas in varying sizes from one gram up to 4.85 kilo.

Recorded mintage: 35,091 + 5,000 proofs.

Specification: 15.5 g, .999 fine gold.
