Sincona sale 54, lot 136
This specimen was lot 136 in Sincona sale 54 (Zurich, May 2019), where it sold for 1,300 CHF (about US$1,547 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"100 Yuan 1984. Panda. Vorzüglich aus polierter Platte. In Originalverschweissung. (China, gold one hundred yuan of 1984, panda. Extremely fine from polished dies, In original welding.)"
The Chinese government has, since the mid 1980's, produced a mind boggling array of bullion related collectibles. A complete set is thousands of types yet buyers clamor for more.
