Aureo sale 232, lot 1261
The specimen shown was lot 1261 in Aureo y Calico sale 232 (Barcelona, March 2011), where it sold for 160 euros (about $264 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Carlos III (1759-1788). 1779. Santiago. DA. 2 reales. Hojitas. Pátina. Rara. MBC. (Charles III, 1759-88, Two reales of 1779, Santiago mint, rim nicks, toned, rare, very fine.)
This type was issued from Santiago 1773-89 and this is a better date.

Recorded mintage: 48,000.

Specification: 6.77 g, .903 fine silver, .196 troy oz ASW.
