Sedwick sale 11, lot 973

The specimen shown was lot 973 in Sedwick sale 11 (Winter Park, FL, April 2011), where it sold for $345. The catalog description[1] noted, "Santiago, Chile, bust 2 reales, Charles III, 1775DA. Deeply old-toned F/VF with parts of rims crude (as made), rare type-coin." This type was issued from Santiago 1773-89 and this is a better date.

Recorded mintage: 34,000.

Specification: 6.77 g, .903 fine silver, .196 troy oz ASW, this specimen 6.4 grams.
