This specimen was lot 27556 in Heritage sale 3031 (Dallas, January 2014), where it sold for $528.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "George VI 5 Cents 1940, MS65 ICCS. Just a hint of toning with exemplary surfaces. None of this date have been graded higher." The SCWC lists this type for 1937-42 in substantial numbers. Wartime issues were brass or chrome plated steel. This specimen sold for ten times the catalog value.
