Canada 1911 25 cents
This specimen was lot 23341 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $616.88. The catalog description noted, "George V 25 Cents 1911, MS64 NGC, a choice piece with full mint brilliance and a hint of patina in the legends. From The Ted Reams Collection." The year 1911 inaugurated the coinage of George V. The new issues were introduced without the "DEI GRA" legend on the obverse. After a public outcry (doubtless puffed up by attention-hungry politicians and newspaper editors), the legend was restored in 1912, rendering this a one-year type. It is slightly scarce.
Recorded mintage: 1,721,341.
Specification: 5.83 g, .925 fine silver, .173 troy oz ASW, reeded edge.
