This specimen is a fairly common date of a type struck in London and Birmingham for Canada 1876-1901. This specimen was lot 34475 in Ponterio sale 177 (Chicago, August 2013), where it sold for $294. The catalog description[1] noted, "CANADA. Cent, 1891. PCGS MS-63 RB. Large date, large leaves." A small date variety exists and is awarded a substantial premium.

Recorded mintage: 1,452,000.

Specification: bronze, 5.67 grams, 25.4 mm diameter, plain edge.
