This specimen was lot 22314 in Stack's Bowers 2018 NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $70. The catalog description[1] noted, "CANADA. Cent, 1886. PCGS MS-62 BN Secure Holder. Deep mahogany tone with nice minty orange luster highlighting the devices." This type was struck 1870-1901 in large quantities and is readily available in grades up to brown Uncirculated. This date is priced triple the commonest date (1900-H) but is otherwise unmemorable.

Recorded mintage: 1,500,000.

Specification: 5.67 g, bronze, 25.4 mm diameter, plain edge.
