This specimen was lot 20590 in Heritage sale 3008 (New York, January 2010), where it sold for $4,168.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Victoria 5 Cents 1875-H Small Date, MS63 PCGS, full mint brilliance with bold design features. The obverse displays some light die clash marks and die breaks. Very rare date in this designation; the finest we have offered since the Belzberg example, which was MS64." This Heaton mint issue comes in "Small Date" (shown here) and "Large date" varieties, both of which are keys to the series. The "Large Date" is priced about double the "Small Date."

Recorded mintage: 1,000,000 (all varieties).

Specification: 1.16 g, .925 fine silver, .034 troy oz ASW, reeded edge.
