This type was struck at Heaton and London 1858-1901. This Heaton mint issue comes in "Crosslet 4" (shown here) and "Plain 4" varieties, both of which are scarce. The "Plain 4" is priced higher than the "Crosslet 4" in low grades but about the same in higher grades, where this date becomes expensive.
Recorded mintage: 800,000 (all varieties).
Specification: 1.16 g, .925 fine silver, .034 troy oz ASW, reeded edge.
