This specimen was lot 791 in Jean Elsen list 269 (Brussels, July-August 2014), where it was offered for €125 (about US$170). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ALLEMAGNE, BRUNSWICK-WOLFENBÜTTEL, Wilhelm (1831-1884), AR Taler, 1848 CvC, Très Beau (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, William (1831-84), silver thaler of 1848, very fine.)"
This type is listed for 1839-42 and 1848-50 and is fairly inexpensive considering its limited mintage.

Specification: 22.27 g, .750 fine silver.
