Künker sale 293, lot 582
This specimen was lot 582 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabruck, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €160 (about US$216 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, HERZOGTUM Karl I. 1735-1780. Taler 1759, Braunschweig. Sogenannter "Leichter Taler". Sehr schön. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick Wolfenbuttel, Charles I, 1735-80, "light" thaler of 1759, Brunswick mint. Very fine.)"
We don't know whether the nickname "light" refers to the design or the weight. It is a one year type but is not rare. A concurrent 8 gute groschen (KM 951) used a very similar design.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver.

Catalog reference: Dav-2150; KM-953, Welter 2721.
