Kunker sale 263, lot 767
This specimen was lot 767 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €1,700 (about US$2,196 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRAUNSCHWEIG-WOLFENBÜTTEL, FÜRSTENTUM Karl I. 1735-1780. Reichstaler 1746, Zellerfeld. Ausbeute der Grube Regenbogen. Attraktives, vorzügliches Exemplar. (Germany, principality of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, Charles I, 1735-80, thaler of 1746, Zellerfeld mint, for the Rainbow mine. Attractive, extremely fine example.)"
This scarce type was minted 1745-46 and 1748. Another thaler was issued for the same mine in 1752 (Dav-2166).
