This specimen was lot 30662 in Heritage sale 3035 (Long Beach, September 2014), where it sold for $4,406.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel. Heinrich Julius 3 Taler 1608 XF45 NGC. A most attractive obverse steeped in gunmetal gray with alluring darkened tone enveloping the legends and devices. The reverse has considerable brightness, awash in silvery patina and stamped with the number '3.' An impressive and broad example, solidly-struck and scarcely seen." This large coin was accompanied by an even more massive five thaler (Dav-LS24).
