This specimen was lot 632 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabruck, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €4,400 (about US$5,930 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRAUNSCHWEIG-LÜNEBURG, HERZOGTUM Christian Ludwig, 1648-1665. Löser zu 3 Reichstalern 1664, Clausthal. Ausbeute der Harzer Gruben. Mit Wertpunze. Preussag Collection (Auktion London Coin Galleries/Künker 1) 163 (dieses Exemplar). Feine Tönung, attraktives, sehr schönes Exemplar. Exemplar der Preussag Collection, Part I. Auktion London Coin Galleries/Künker 1, London 2015, Nr. 163. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Luneburg-Celle, Christian Louis, 1648-65, triple thaler of 1664, Clausthal mint, for the Harz mines, with denomination punch. Fine toning, attractive very fine example.)"
Triple thalers featuring the duke's monogram and the leaping stallion are recorded for 1650 (Dav-LS150), 1657 (Dav-LS159), 1662 (Dav-LS173), 1663 (Dav-LS177) and 1664 (this issue). All are rare and expensive.
