This specimen was lot 3172 in Sincona sale 51 (Zurich, October 2018), where it sold for 1,600 CHF (about US$1,930 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Braunschweig-Lüneburg-Calenberg-Hannover, Herzogtum, Ernst August, 1679-1698. Taler 1684, Clausthal. Ausbeute der Grube Ernst August. Mit Randschrift: ERNESTI AUGUSTI DUCIS HÆC SCROBS PRÆMIA REDDIT. Äusserst selten. Gutes sehr schön. Kleine Randfehler. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Luneburg-Calenberg-Hannover, Ernest August, 1679-98, thaler of 1684, Clausthal mint, for the Ernst August mine, with edge lettering. Extremely rare, Good very fine, Minor edge nicks.)"
