Sincona sale 22, lot 1162
This specimen was lot 1162 in Sincona sale 22 (Zurich, May 2015), where it sold for 240 CHF (about US$302 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Braunschweig-Lüneburg-Calenberg-Hannover, Herzogtum, Christian Ludwig, 1641-1648 Taler 1643. Zellerfeld. Selten. Gutes sehr schön. (Germany, duchy of Brunswick-Luneburg-Calenberg-Hannover, Christian Louis (1641-48), thaler of 1643, Zellerfeld mint, rare, good very fine.)"
The Duchy of Brunswick was divided and subdivided in the seventeenth century but was eventually reassembled as the Kingdom of Hannover before being absorbed into Prussia in 1866. This type is listed for 1643 only along with Dav-6512, -6515, -6517 and -6517B. The SCWC states this type is fairly common.
