Brazil 1992 5000 cruzieros
This specimen was struck to honor the bicentennial of the death of Joaquim José da Silva Xavier (called "Tiradentes" by his enemies), who led an early anti-Portuguese rebellion, for which he was captured, hanged and quartered. It was issued while the "cruziero" was in use (1990-93). The currency would be reformed twice before the reform of 1994 finally stuck.
