This specimen was part of lot 26543 in Heritage sale 3022 (New York, January 2013), which sold for $352.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic Lot of Eight Modern silver Coins, 3, 4, 5, Reais, and 10, 20, 200, 500, 2000 Cruzeiros issues. All coins choice UNC or Proof." This commemorative, honoring the centennial of the republic, is the only silver coin issued while the "cruzado novo" was in use (1989-90). The currency would be reformed several more times before the reform of 1994 finally stuck.

Recorded mintage: 30,000.

Specification: 13.47 g, .999 fine silver, .432 troy oz ASW, 31 mm diameter.
