Brazil 1927 1000 reis rev DSLR.jpg

Shown is a aluminum bronze thousand réis of the United States of Brazil. This is the regular issue, struck 1924-31. It is scarce in choice condition. Commemorative thousand réis were issued in the 1930's which, not surprisingly, are much easier to find in nice condition than this type. The thousand réis gradually shrank until its abolition in 1942 with the reform of the coinage in that year.

Recorded mintage: 35,817,000 (most common date).

Specification: 7.9 g, aluminum bronze, 26.8 mm diameter, reeded edge.

Catalog reference: KM 525.
