Brazil 1908 10000 reis
This specimen was lot 20196 in Heritage sale 3021 (New York, January 2013), where it sold for $1,997.50. The catalog description noted, "Republic gold 10000 Reis 1908, MS61 NGC, fully lustrous with light handling, scarce grade for this low mintage date, 689 struck." This type was struck in small quantities 1889-1922 along with a larger twenty milréis. It is normally seen lightly circulated with bagmarks from storage in bank vaults.
