This date, one of a series struck 1853-89, is among the moderately priced gold coins of the Empire of Brazil. This specimen was lot 23121 in Heritage sale 3030 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $1,645. The catalog description noted, "Pedro II gold 10000 Reis 1867, MS62 NGC. A premium example for grade with effulgent surfaces and no distracting marks."
