Brazil 1847 1200 reis
This specimen was lot 26164 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $305.50. The catalog description noted, "Pedro II 1200 Reis 1847, VF/XF, minimally toned, once cleaned around the date with numerous planchet striations on the reverse (as made), the final year of the type." This type was struck in small numbers 1834-48 in Rio de Janeiro, with 1834, 1835 and 1837 being the reasonably available dates. The series came accompanied by 100 réis, 200 réis, 800 réis and 400 réis in silver.
