Brazil 1813 4000 reis
This specimen was lot 23256 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $940. The catalog description noted, "João Prince Regent gold 4000 Reis 1813(R), AU55 NGC, a nice lustrous coin struck at Rio de Janeiro without mintmark." This type was struck 1808-17 at Rio and Bahia. It is the most common "moidore" of the nineteenth century. An 1813/2 overdate is reported.
