The second specimen was part of lot 23308 in Heritage sale 3020 (Long Beach, September 2012), where it sold for $2,820. The catalog description[1] noted, "Collection of Silver 640 Reis, a great date run of this larger denomination with many scarce dates and varieties included. Grades are surprisingly nice with most coins in the Fine to VF category." The type was struck in Rio (shown here) 1751-55 and Lisbon 1752 and 1756. This is the most common date.

Specification: 19.32 g, .917 fine silver, .569 troy oz ASW.
