This specimen was lot 23237 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $9,987.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "João V 1000 Reis 1726-M, AU Details NGC, scratches on the reverse. A very choice, AU58 obverse with wide rims, beautiful crown and legends. Small adjustment mark by the flowers to the right of the shield. Scratches under the date on the obverse. Very rare. From The RLM Collection." This type was struck at the Minas Gerais mint 1724-27 and at Bahia (KM 104) and Rio.
