Goldberg sale 104, lot 3950
Brandenburg G104-3950r.jpg

This specimen was lot 3950 in Goldberg sale 104 (Los Angeles, June 2018), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "German States: Brandenburg. 2/3 Taler, 1691-WH (Cleves). Friedrich III, 1688-1713. Toned. PCGS graded EF-45. From the Ora Eads Collection." This type was struck 1690-92 and is rather scarcer than other gulden struck at the time in Berlin or Magdeburg. While thalers for the late 1600's are rare, Brandenburg gulden are numerous and come in many varieties.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver.

Catalog reference: Dav-281; KM-36.1 (listed under Cleves).
