This specimen was lot 613 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $15,275. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Brandenburg-Bayreuth. Taler, 1712-PPWSR. Georg Wilhelm (1712-26). NGC MS-64. Superb Accession Taler of George Wilhelm. VERY RARE. Struck to commemorate the accession of Georg Wilhelm. A beautiful and classic Taler design with a robust and regal bust of Georg Wilhelm on the obverse and the reverse dominated by a huge and complex helmeted arms. Glossy old envelope toning with lustrous metal beneath. Some blue, rose and golden highlights winking from the more protected areas. Seldom seen at auction and an impressive and highly attractive example of this highly sought after rarity. From the Rockaway Collection." This issue is mentioned but not priced in the SCWC.
