Kunker sale 293, lot 263
This specimen was lot 263 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabruck, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €1,400 (about US$1,887 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRANDENBURG IN FRANKEN. Karl Wilhelm Friedrich, 1729-1757. Reichstaler 1732, Schwabach. Slg. Grüber (Auktion Künker 267) 4445. RR Etwas berieben, sehr schön-vorzüglich. (margraviate of Brandenburg-Ansbach, Charles William Frederick, 1729-57, thaler of 1732, Schwabach mint. Rare, lightly smoothed, very fine to extremely fine.)"
The line lapsed in 1791 and the provinces fell to Prussia, who in turn yielded them to Bavaria in 1806 as part of Napoleon's mediatization. This one year type comes with and without engraver's initial "V".
