This specimen was lot 2293 in Sincona sale 51 (Zurich, October 2018), where it sold for 8,000 CHF (about US$9,650 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Karl Wilhelm Friedrich, 1723-1757. Dukat o. J. (1753), Schwabach. Sogenannter Falkendukat. Auf die Beizjagd. Münzmeister Johann Jakob Ebenauer. Stempelschneider Johann Samuel Götzinger. Falke mit Falkenhaube sitzt nach rechts in Landschaft, rechts ein auf Beute lauernder Reiher, oben ein weiterer fliegender Reiher, im Hintergrund Kirchengebäude. Rv. Darstellung einer Falkenjagd: Der Markgraf reitet in einer Landschaft, davor ein Hund und ein Falke, die einen Hasen jagen, rechts Jagdbläser, oben ein Falke, der einen Reiher angreift, im Hintergrund Kirchengebäude. Sehr selten. Gutes vorzüglich. Winzige Henkelspur. (Germany, margraviate of Brandenburg-Ansbach, Charles William Frederick, 1723-57, undated ducat, Schwabach mint, so-called "falcon" ducat. Obverse: Falcon with falcon hood sits facing right in landscape, on the right a hare hides, a flying heron above, in the background a church. Reverse: Representation of a hawk hunt: The margrave rides in a landscape, with a dog and a hawk hunting a hare, to the right huntsmen, above a hawk attacking a heron, church in the background. Very rare, Good extremely fine, Tiny mount mark.)"
The margrave seems to have been a big fan of falconry. He also issued several hunting thalers (Dav-2926).
