This specimen was lot 1139 in Stephen Album sale 32 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2018), where it sold for $105.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "BRANDENBURG-ANSBACH-BAYREUTH: AR kreuzer, 1797, struck in Bayersdorf, PCGS graded MS64, ex Don Erickson Collection." In 1791, the margrave of Brandenburg-Ansbach and Brandenburg-Bayreuth sold his realm to the king of Prussia and retired to England as a hobby farmer. The king of Prussia issued a series of billon coins for his new acquisition in 1792-97, including this one kreuzer and a six kreuzer (KM 16). The two provinces eventually passed to Bavaria in 1806 during Napoleon's mediatization.
