This specimen was lot 20185 in Stack's Bowers ANA Auction (Denver, CO, August 2017), where it sold for $4,230. The catalog description[1] noted, "BOLIVIA. 8 Soles, 1863-FP. NGC MS-65. Single finest graded of the date at either NGC or PCGS. Sharply struck with lustrous satiny surfaces. Lovely multicolor tone creeping in the from the peripheries. Significantly better than what is normally found and sure to excite the connoisseur of Latin American or World crowns." This type was struck 1859-63 and is the last 8 soles. The eight soles was reduced from 27 g to 20 g in 1859. In 1864, Bolivia converted to decimal coinage and the eight soles was abandoned.
