Aureo sale 238, lot 459
This specimen was lot 459 in Aureo & Calicó sale 238 (Barcelona, November 2011), where it sold for 100 euro (about US$159 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"1801. Potosí. PP. 8 reales. Leves rayitas. Atractiva. Parte de brillo original. Escasa así. EBC-/EBC. (eight reales of 1801, Potosí mint. Light marks, attractive, lustrous, scarce thus, about extremely fine.)"
The assayer PP appears for 1794-1802.

Recorded mintage: 3,965,000.

Specification: 27.07 grams, .896 fine silver, .780 troy oz ASW.
