Sincona sale 23, lot 2983
This specimen was lot 2983 in Sincona sale 23 (Zurich, May 2015), where it sold for 350 CHF (about US$440 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RDR/ÖSTERREICH, Ferdinand II. 1618-1637 Taler 1630. Kuttenberg. Sehr schön. (Holy Roman Empire, Ferdinand II (1618-37), thaler of 1630, Kuttenberg mint, very fine.)"
The SCWC lists this type for 1623-37 under Bohemia. Kuttenberg, now Kutná Hora, was indeed in Bohemia, but was run by the Hapsburgs as an ordinary branch mint. The town was devastated during the Thirty Years War and the mines fell into ruin.
