Künker sale 293, lot 1567
This specimen was lot 1567 in Künker sale 293 (Osnabruck, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €1,400 (about US$1,887 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"RÖMISCH-DEUTSCHES REICH, Matthias, 1608-1612-1619. Reichstaler 1614, Kuttenberg. Münzmeister August Schmilauer. Etwas rauher Schrötling, sehr schön +. (Holy Roman Empire, Matthias, 1612-19, thaler of 1614, Kuttenberg mint. Lightly pitted, very fine.)"
The SCWC lists this type for 1613-19 under Bohemia. Kuttenberg, now Kutná Hora, was indeed in Bohemia, but was run by the Hapsburgs as an ordinary branch mint. The town was devastated during the Thirty Years War and the mines fell into ruin. A rare double thaler (Dav-3070) also exists.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: silver.

Catalog reference: Halacka 528; Voglh. 115 II, Dietiker 515, Dav-3071, KM 162 (listed under Bohemia).
