This specimen was lot 6032 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2017), where it sold for $517. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. Taler, 1597. Kuttenberg Mint. Rudolf II (1576-1612). NGC AU-50. A few areas of flat strike at the highest points of relief and no major actual wear. Deep old cabinet toning pervades the entire surface area." This particular type is a product of the Kuttenberg mint for 1578-1600. Davenport lists over 130 different thalers for Austria in the sixteenth century.
