Sincona sale 39, lot 4556
This specimen was lot 4556 in Sincona sale 39 (Zurich, May 2017), where it sold for 3,600 CHF (about US$4,318 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Bern, Halbdukat 1717. Geschweiftes Wappen. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Fast FDC. Prachtvolle Erhaltung. (canton of Bern, half ducat of 1717. Very rare in this condition. About uncirculated. Magnificent condition.)"
The SCWC notes five different half ducats for the period 1714-19, some of them almost affordable but this one is rare.

Specification: 1.75 g, .986 fine gold, this specimen 1.69 g.
