Sincona sale 1, lot 1746
This specimen was lot 1746 in SINCONA sale 1 (Zurich, June 2011), where it sold for 56,000 CHF ($77,961 including buyer's fee). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Bern 4 Dukaten 1492. Abschlag vom Stempel des Dickens. Berner Schild mit Adler. Rv. Stehender Heiliger Vinzenz mit Palmzweig und Buch. Von grösster Seltenheit. Gutes vorzüglich. Ex Leu Numismatik, Auktion 74, Lot 2107, Zürich 1998. (Switzerland, Bern, four ducats of 1492. Obverse: Bernese arms with eagle above; reverse: holy pilgrim with palm branch and book. Of the highest rarity, good extremely fine.)"
Dated coins prior to 1500 are few and expensive.
