CNG Lissner sale, lot 12

This specimen was lot 12 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $60.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "BELGIUM, Kingdom. Léopold I. 1831-1865. CU-NI 20 Centimes. Bruxelles (Brussels) mint. Dated 1861. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 62. Nice unimpaired UNC." This issue of 1860-61 superseded the silver twenty centimes of 1852-58 but was abandoned after two years. No more were struck during the nineteenth century. This specimen sold for less than the catalog value, one of the few in this sale to do so.

Recorded mintage: 1,804,000 for 1860-61.
