This specimen was lot 679 in Jean Elsen list 269 (Brussels, July-August 2014), where it was offered for €1,200 (about US$1,633). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BELGIQUE, Royaume, Léopold Ier (1831-1865), AR 5 francs, 1847, Petites griffes au revers. Champ brillant. Superbe à Fleur de Coin (kingdom of Belgium, Leopold I (1831-65), silver five francs of 1847, small marks on reverse, brilliant fields, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"
This subtype is listed for 1847-49 of which this is the scarcest date.
