This specimen was lot 2127 in Sincona sale 33 (Zurich, October 2016), where it sold for 1,600 CHF (about US$1,899 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Maximilian III. Joseph, 1745-1777 Konventionstaler 1766. Äusserst seltene Erhaltung. FDC. Kabinettstück. (Germany, electorate of Bavaria, Maximilian III Joseph, 1745-77, convention thaler of 1766. Extremely rare condition, Uncirculated, Cabinet piece. NGC MS65.)"
This type is listed for 1760-77 from Munich (Dav-1953) and Amberg (Dav-1954) and is common. It varies from the prior type (Dav-1952) by having the elector's bust interrupt the obverse legend.
