This specimen was lot 3564 in Künker sale 264 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €2,800 (about US$3,617 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"HERZOGTUM, Maximilian I. 1598-1651. 4 Dukaten 1610, München. GOLD. Von großer Seltenheit. Schön. (Germany, duchy of Bavaria, maximilian I, 1598-1651, four ducats of 1610, Munich mint. Very rare, fine.)"
Gold coins were and are too valuable to circulate on a daily basis. A specimen this worn got that way by use as a pendant or a pocket piece.
