Sincona sale 50, lot 1164
This specimen was lot 1164 in Sincona sale 50 (Zurich, October 2018), where it sold for 54,000 CHF (about US$65,135 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Batthyani, Fürstentum. Karl Josef, 1764-1772. 5 Dukaten 1764, Wien. Stempelschneider J. Toda. Brustbild mit im Nacken zusammen­gebundenen Haaren und umgelegter Vlieskette nach rechts. Rv. Auf gekröntem Fürstenmantel das von der Vlieskette umgebene Familienwappen mit Grafenkrone und fünf Helmen. Von grösster Seltenheit. Prachtexemplar. Fast FDC. (principality of Batthyani, Charles Joseph, 1764-72, quintuple ducat of 1764, Vienna mint, dies by J. Toda. Obverse: Peruked bust right; reverse: crowned and mantled arms with five helmets. Of the highest rarity, Cabinet piece, About uncirculated.)"
This scarce type was minted 1764 only. A ducat (Fr-552), ten ducats (Fr-550) and thaler (Dav-1182) also exist.

Recorded mintage: unknown but few.
